Are you searching for a training contract, or would you like to help those that are?
The LYLG appreciate how difficult a task it is to attain a training contract. As such, we will be running a mentor scheme in partnership with The Student Lawyer and EJ Legal Recruitment until the July 2018 training contract application deadline.
Registration for the scheme is now open and we are looking for both mentors and mentees.
The deadline for applications is 1 December 2017, but we will be allocating mentors on a rolling basis. We aim to make pairings based on type of firm and particular fields of law, but must stress that we cannot guarantee each applicant will be partnered with a mentor, so register today to avoid disappointment.
What will the LYLG mentor scheme involve?
Mentors will provide bespoke one-to-one assistance and advice at each stage of the training contract application and interview process. Mentors will also be able to draw on their own unique experiences to provide practical advice in respect of the type of firm which might be best suited to you and what to expect from life as a trainee. The relationship can also help to motivate and provide a source of comfort to many that are finding the application process challenging.
One of our scheme partners, EJ Legal Recruitment, will also be offering workshops throughout the year providing CV and application tips as well advice on how best to prepare for interviews and assessment days.
Registered mentors and mentees will also benefit from a 25% reduction in the cost of LYLG membership and will be invited to our monthly networking and educational events throughout the scheme.
Who can apply?
We are looking for mentors ranging from current trainees to 5 year PQE. There is no requirement that mentors be based in London.
To ensure that we are able to focus this year’s scheme on those with the greatest current need for support, we invite applications from those that have completed their first year of an LLB or second year of a non-qualifying undergraduate degree. We do not place any upper age or experience limit on those able to apply.
