Nicola Rubbert


Nicola joined the Committee in April 2014. Nicola’s role involves welcoming new members and co-ordinating events.

Nicola is an in-house solicitor at Nimax Theatres. She was previously a solicitor at Jamieson Alexander, practicing in Employment, Property and Commercial Law. Nicola read Law at Swansea University and attended The College of Law, Guildford for her Legal Practice Course. Nicola completed her Training Contract and then went onto become an Associate Solicitor at a boutique City firm which specialised in advising Japanese corporate clients, which is where she was able to broaden her expertise and learn more about the business world. Before commencing her Training Contract, Nicola spent two years gaining experience in housing and property litigation at a firm specialising in Legal Aid work. In her spare time, Nicola enjoys dancing, outdoor fitness sessions, socialising and travel.


Oliver Haddock

Vice Chair

Oliver joined the committee in January 2016 as an events officer. He became Vice Chair in September 2017.

Leo Michelmore

Deputy Vice Chair and JLD national committee representative

Leo joined the committee in January 2016 and became its Secretary in August of the same year. He has been Deputy Vice Chair since September 2017.

He is a Trainee at Charles Russell Speechlys LLP, currently sitting in the Employment team. Prior to commencing his training contract, Leo studied History at the University of Edinburgh before completing his GDL and LPC at the University of Law in London, achieving a Distinction in both.

Away from the Law, Leo takes an active interest in politics, having led the Britain Stronger In Europe campaign in the Streatham constituency during the EU referendum. He is also a school governor. In his spare time, he enjoys running, playing squash and getting his hopes up about Liverpool FC.

Philip Lee


Philip studied law at the University of Nottingham and graduated in 2009.

After university, Philip began the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law and joined Osbornes Solicitors in North London as a paralegal in January 2010. He commenced his training contract in 2012 and qualified in September 2014. Coming from afar, Philip lived in New Zealand, Singapore and Australia before moving to the United Kingdom. Philip joined the LYLG in late 2009 as a Student Representative for the College of Law before becoming more involved as Assistant Secretary. He was Committee Secretary from 2009 to end 2013 before becoming its Treasurer.


Daniela Alves Valdez

Publicity Officer

Daniela joined the LYLG committee in 2013. She specialises in the Commercial Litigation and International Dispute Resolution.

Her interests are in Insurance, Reinsurance, Maritime, and EU Law. Daniela has also been an avid supporter of Amnesty International for many years and she volunteers as an Amnesty School Speaker. In her spare time, Daniela dedicates herself to learning languages (she is a polyglot), martial arts and all things legal from charity events – Daniela undertook a sanitation project in Tanzania with the Junior Lawyers Division and Raleigh International in 2013 – to blogging and networking.

April joined the LYLG Committee in July 2016. She works in the Employment department at Slater and Gordon Lawyers,

Specialising in Claimant work. She will qualify as a solicitor in September 2016. April read Law & Criminology at Cardiff University and graduated with a First Class degree. She then attended Nottingham Law School for her Legal Practice Course where she achieved a Distinction. In her spare time, April enjoys travel, socialising, football and exploring London!

Grace Bovill

Events Co-ordinator and Charity Representative

Grace is Head of the Housing at Wainwright & Cummins LLP.


Rachel Pearson

Sponsorship Officer

Rachel joined the committee in August 2015 as a sponsorship officer and is tasked with engaging with sponsors and corporate partners to help fund the group’s events and run interesting events for its members.

Rachel became legal counsel for the Intercontinental Exchange: New York Stock Exchange in February 2017. Before that she spent almost two years as a solicitor in the commercial litigation and regulatory team at RadcliffesLeBrasseur. Away from work Rachel enjoys going to the theatre and playing netball.

Becca Caplan


Becca joined the committee in 2017. After graduating in 2008 with a degree in English Literature and Communications from Newcastle University, Becca worked for 7 years. She also spent a few months in Cape Town where she taught English in the townships.

In 2016, Becca completed her GDL and went straight in to her LPC which she finished in August 2017. Her training contract is due to commence in September 2018. In her spare time Becca enjoys running, yoga and reading.


Ronald Leung

Ronald joined the committee in October 2017.

Having lived and studied in Hong Kong, Canada and the United Kingdom, Ronald is a paralegal in the conflicts team at Dentons. He read law at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and went on to complete his LLM in Intellectual Property and Information Law at King’s College London. Away from the law, Ronald supports Arsenal FC (mostly because of his parents who are avid supporters). He is also a massive Pokemon fan and probably spends too much time on YouTube.
